72 Years of Aviation Excellence
03 October 2018
Lieutenant Cmdr. Nate Scott, slot pilot for the U.S. Navy flight demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels, discusses the human element that goes into every flight demonstration.
In 1946, Admiral Chester Nimitz, then chief of naval operations, witnessed the realization of his vision to create a flight exhibition team to increase public interest in naval aviation and boost Navy morale. The fruit of that vision is the Blue Angels, whose 2018-19 seasons has them scheduled to perform more than 60 demonstrations at more than 30 locations across the U.S. and Canada.
