Restore Readiness
Service members will be able to choose their retirement plans starting Jan. 1, 2018.
 
This decision only applies to those who joined after 2006. Service members with 12 years of service or more will remain on the current system. The opt-in period for the Blended Retirement System (BRS) will end Dec. 31, 2018. Those who join the military after Jan. 1, 2018 will automatically be enrolled in BRS. Service members covered by BRS are eligible for continuation pay. Talk to your primary financial counselor (PFC) for more information. You can locate your PFC at http:/militaryinstallations.dod.mil.
