Heroes Among Us
Honoring veterans in our nation's capital
13 June 2013
The Honor Flight Network transported hundreds of veterans to the nation's capital in Washington D.C. June 4.
A non-profit organization, the Honor Flight Network honors America's veterans by providing transport for our heroes - World War II, Vietnam and Korean veterans along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill to their specific memorials.
Among those veterans is 88-year-old Rose Marie Phillip who was flown in by the organization so she may visit the World War II memorial.
Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened the country's very existence as a nation - and as a culturally diverse, free society. According to the organization, more than 800 World War II veterans are dying each day.
