NRL Launches Quantum Navy YouTube Series - Quantum information science offers vast technological improvements in computing, sensing, and communication, areas of high interest for the Navy. The series features NRL leadership describing researchers’ quest for dividends in these areas. The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), with the help of Defense Media Activity, is launching a three-part series highlighting the importance of quantum research for the 21st century U.S. Navy.

Semper Fidelis: Miguel Keith

This month, the Navy will place USNS Miguel Keith (ESB 5) in commission during a ceremony in San Diego, California. The ship’s namesake is Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Lance Cpl. Miguel Keith. Born 2 June 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, Keith enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in January of 1969 after graduating from North High School in Omaha, Nebraska, the previous year.

McCain, assigned to Destroyer Squadron FIFTEEN (DESRON 15) and forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, completed her in-port phase of training, and will continue Basic Phase at-sea training in the upcoming months to certify in every mission area the ship is required to perform and prepare for return to operational tasking.

Since 2015, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) has focused on the USS Oklahoma (BB-37), a Nevada-class battleship that was on Battleship Row in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. After the Pearl Harbor attack, 429 deaths were confirmed from the USS Oklahoma. As of February, DPAA hit its first major milestone with the USS Oklahoma project, confirming a positive identity match of its 200th crewman.
