The Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Kansas City (LCS 22), with sailors embarked from USS Savannah (LCS 28), participates in a surface action group live-fire gunnery exercise alongside USS Montgomery (LCS 8) and the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers USS Gridley (DDG 101) and USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) in the Pacific Ocean, Sept. 27, 2024. Kansas City is underway in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations conducting Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT).
