The Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Scranton (SSN 756) prepares to depart the floating dry dock ARCO (ARDM 5) at Naval Base Point Loma, Sept. 4, 2024. Scranton is part of Commander, Submarine Squadron (CSS) 11, home to five Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarines, which are capable of supporting various missions, including: anti-submarine warfare; anti-ship warfare; strike warfare; and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. ARCO is a medium auxiliary floating dry dock for repair and is a CSS-11 asset under the operational control of Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
