ANNAPOLIS, Md. (June 5, 2024) The U.S. Naval Academy holds the change of command ceremony in T-Court where the Commandant of Midshipmen Colonel James “J.P” McDonough III was properly relieved by Capt. Walter H. Allman III. The Naval Academy Commandant is similar to the Dean of Students at a civilian university, and is responsible for the day-to-day conduct, military training, and professional development of more than 4,400 midshipmen. As the undergraduate college of our country’s naval service, the Naval Academy prepares young men and women to become professional officers of competence, character, and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
