SAN DIEGO (June 8, 2023) Capt. Pete Riebe, commanding officer of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), and Sailors aboard the ship wave as the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) sails through San Diego Bay upon return to homeport following a seven-month deployment. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and the amphibious transport docks Anchorage and USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participated in multiple training exercises with international partners while deployed in support of regional stability and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
