Aviation Machinist's Mate Airman Apprentice (ADAA) Joni Nevarez smiles broadly as she stands by the pool at the Rescue Swimmer School in her search and rescue (SAR) swimmer gear. Nevarez, who has orders to join Light Helicopter Anti-submarine Squadron 30 (HSL-30), Detachment A, is the first woman Sailor to be graduated from the school since it opened in 1984.
