PHILIPPINE SEA (Feb. 11, 2023) U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, provide overwatch for a visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) exercise aboard the expeditionary sea base USS Miguel Keith (ESB 5) in the Philippine Sea, Feb. 11, 2023. The VBSS exercise refined Marines' skills in maritime interdiction operations by incorporating real world scenarios. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
