PHILIPPINE SEA (Feb. 11, 2023) A U.S. Marine with maritime raid force, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit posts security during a visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) exercise aboard the expeditionary sea base USS Miguel Keith (ESB 5) off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 11, 2023. The VBSS exercise was conducted to evaluate and certify Marines in search and seizure techniques while at sea. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
