PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 4, 2023) Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kristopher Meadows, a rifleman with Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fast-ropes onto the flight deck of amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23), Jan. 4. A force in readiness, the 13th MEU trains in fast rope operations to rapidly respond to crises in all domain environments through naval power projection. The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit is embarked on the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and amphibious transport dock ships USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26) and the Anchorage, and operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force to defend peace and maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
