BALTIC SEA (Sept. 11, 2022) Damage Controlman Fireman Kadin Shoemaker, from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, left, and Damage Controlman 2nd Class Alan Clark, from Struthers, Ohio, participate in the 9/11 Memorial stair climb aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117), Sept. 11, 2022, by climbing up the equivalent of the 110 flights of stairs that firefighters and first responders climbed in the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. Paul Ignatius is part of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, under the command and control of Task Force 61/2, on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. 6th Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
