SEA OF JAPAN (Sept. 5, 2022) A U.S. Marine with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Rein.), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, gives a signal during fast-rope training aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans (LPD 18) in the Sea of Japan, Sept. 5, 2022. Fast-roping allows for fast inserts in a contested area. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group in the U.S. 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific Region.
