BALTIC SEA (Aug. 30, 2022) The U.S. Navy Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), the Swedish navy Visby-class corvettes HSwMS Harnosand (K33) and HSwMS Nykoping (K34), the Carlskrona-class auxiliary support ship HSwMS Carlskrona (P04), the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44), the Stockholm-class corvette HSwMS Malmo (P 12), the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24), the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117) and the Visby-class corvettes HSwMS Karlstad (K35) and HSwMS Helsingborg (K32) break away from formation after a maneuvering exercise in the Baltic Sea, Aug. 30, 2022. The U.S. Navy ships are part of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, under the command and control of Task Force 61/2, and are on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. 6th Fleet to defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
