PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 11, 2022) The San Antonio-class Amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), the Wasp Class amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) and the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) conduct a straits transit exercise. Straits transit exercises demonstrate the ability of the U.S. Navy to uphold the country’s commitment to free and open navigation around the world. Makin Island, flagship of Amphibious Squadron (CPR) SEVEN, along with 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), is currently underway conducting integrated training in the U.S. 3rd fleet to prepare for an upcoming deployment.
