PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 1, 2022) A U.S. Navy landing craft, air cushion with Naval Beach Unit 7 flies to shore during well deck operations aboard USS New Orleans (LPD 18). Landing craft, air cushions are used to transport vehicles and personnel from ship to shore. The 31st MEU is operating aboard the ships of the Tripoli Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific Region.
