PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 1, 2022) U.S. Marine HIMARS vehicles with Command Element, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, are prepare to disembark during well deck operations aboard USS New Orleans (LPD 18) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 1, 2022. Landing Craft Air Cushions (LCAC) are used to transport vehicles and personnel from ship to shore. The 31st MEU is operating aboard the ships of the Tripoli Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific Region.
