PACIFIC OCEAN (July 8, 2022) An F-35B Lighting II fighter aircraft assigned to the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 122, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, prepares to take off of the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), July 8, 2022. Makin Island has the ability to embark and support all Marine aviation assets including the MV-22 Osprey and the F-35B Lightning II.
