NORFOLK, Va. (June 24, 2022) The amphibious assault ship USS Bataan is seen docked in Norfolk, Va. June 24, 2022. U.S. Marines and sailors with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit participated in George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group’s Composite Unit Training Exercise (COMPTUEX) from the USS Bataan and Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Atlantic. This is the first time that a MEU has integrated into the Carrier Strike Group’s COMPTUEX. The purpose of COMPTUEX is to assess a units’ ability to conduct military operations at sea, project power ashore through joint planning and execution of challenging and realistic training scenarios.
