LITTLE CREEK, Va. (May 19, 2022) Sailors assigned to Beach Master Unit (BMU) 2 direct maneuvers and operations of Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1661 during a loading and unloading exercise at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Va., May 19, 2022. The loading exercise allows new heavy equipment operators to apply classroom instruction to a real-world training environment. The overarching strategy of a loading exercise is to reinforce naval integration between the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy while incorporating new risk management methodologies into amphibious logistical operations.
