(April 8, 2022) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Fuel) 2nd Class Gumaro Mercado connects a seven-inch receiving hose to the fuel receiver while amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) receives fuel at Naval Base Point Loma. Navy warships require a certain amount of fuel to keep the ship's service diesel generators and onboard equipment operational.
