MANILA BAY, Philippines (March 27, 2022) Capt. Amy Bauernschmidt, left, commanding officer of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), and the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines’ Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim, Heather Variava greet military and civilian leaders from the Philippines as they arrive in the hangar bay aboard Abraham Lincoln. While in the Philippines, Abraham Lincoln celebrated the 70th year of the U.S. Philippine alliance through at-sea distinguished visitor embarks, ship tours, community relations projects, MWR tours and a reception hosted in the ship’s hangar bay. Guests to the reception included Filipino distinguished visitors, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic community and U.S. Embassy staff members. Abraham Lincoln Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability through alliances and partnerships while serving as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
