PHILIPPINE SEA (Feb. 15, 2022) Marines with Force Reconnaissance Platoon, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and Sailors recover a combat rubber raiding craft (CRRC) after visit, board, search, and seizure (VBSS) training aboard USS Ashland (LSD 48) in the Philippine Sea, Feb. 15, 2022. Marines with the 31st MEU conducted the VBSS training in partnership with Navy personnel to share knowledge on tactics, and to maintain maritime proficiency and readiness. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners, and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
