Kathryn Murphy

(April 02, 2019) Kathryn Murphy, Senior Scientific Technical Manager for software engineering at Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic was recently named the 2019 Women in Defense (WID)  Palmetto Chapter’s "Female Executive of the Year" during a ceremony at Founder’s Hall at Charles Towne Landing, South Carolina. Murphy was recognized at the event for her work at NIWC Atlantic and her impact to the Navy, greater Department of Defense community and the warfighter. This year’s “Salute to the Fighting Ladies” ceremony was WID Palmetto Chapter’s 9th annual event and was designed to honor military and civilian women for their contributions in the areas of national security, education, volunteerism and leadership. In her position at NIWC Atlantic, Murphy is responsible for all aspects of software and computer engineering, as well as providing solutions for the Navy, Marine Corps, DoD and other federal customers.  Murphy is pictured here speaking at the 50th Small Business Industry Outreach Initiative hosted by the Charleston Defense Contractor’s Association April 2, 2019. NIWC Atlantic provides systems engineering and acquisition to deliver information warfare capabilities to the naval, joint and national warfighter through the acquisition, development, integration, production, test, deployment, and sustainment of interoperable C4ISR, cyber and information technology capabilities.
