170315-N-PD309-032 NORFOLK, Virginia (March 15, 2017) A Sailor speaks with Yona Brown, a former Sailor who, as an Interior Communications Electrician 2nd Class in 1978, brought a lawsuit against the Secretaries of the Navy and Defense in Owens v. Brown, winning the right of women to serve on non-combat vessels during the Women in the Navy Centennial Event at Naval Station Norfolk. The event was facilitated by the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, an official museum of the U.S. Navy dedicated to the study of 241 years of naval history in the Hampton Roads region.
