DOVER, Del. (Feb. 8, 2022) Lt. Cmdr. Katherine Dozier, the director of forensic toxicology at the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES), gives a tour of the facilities to Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Russell Smith and Sgt. Maj. of the Marine Corps Troy E. Black at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. Smith and Black visited Dover to become familiar with the dignified return of fallen American service members. Dover also hosts the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations and Joint Personal Effects Depot (JPED). The process of the dignified transfer at Dover is rich in heritage and tradition, going back to the Vietnam era. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Anna E. Van Nuys)
