CHERRY POINT, N.C. (Sept. 18, 2021) The first V-22 Osprey to undergo the chemical paint stripping process at Fleet Readiness Center East sits covered with stripping agent on Sept. 18. A midcoat paint layer added between the primer and the topcoat protects the composite material that makes up the U.S. Air Force CV-22 Osprey from the harsh chemical strippers. FRCE has adopted this commercial practice, and the midcoat is applied to all V-22s being painted at the facility. U.S. Navy photo by Chris Gladson)
