CAMP ITAMI, Japan (Dec. 8, 2021) Charge d'Affaires ad interim Raymond Greene visits Camp Itami, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Middle Army Headquarters, to met with JGSDF and U.S. Army senior leaders and commanders. Greene was received by Lt. Gen Shin Nozawa, commanding general, and Maj. Gen. JB Vowell, U.S. Army Japan commanding general where they met for an office call. Following the office call, Greene conducted battlefield circulation around the Central Control Facility where he was given updates on the exercise from Exercise Control senior leaders. Before departing, Greene stopped by the Yama Sakura medical AID station and the bilateral command post where he met with senior leaders from 25th Infantry Division and 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade - SFAB. Yama Sakura 81 is the largest U.S.-Japan bilateral and joint command post exercise which enables participants to work as dedicated partners in support of the U.S.-Japan security alliance and for continued peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
