GULF OF ADEN (Dec. 6, 2021) The guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Kanawha (T-AO 196) conduct a nighttime replenishment at sea in the Gulf of Aden, Dec. 6. Murphy is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
