JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (Dec. 1, 2021) Capt. Mike Majewski (second from left), Commodore, Submarine Squadron 7, presents Cmdr. Corey Barksdale (second from right), commanding officer of the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Columbia (SSN 771); Lt. Cmdr. Richard Ali (far right), executive officer; and Senior Chief Machinist’s Mate, Submarine (Auxilary) Jason Jacobs (far left), acting chief of the boat; with a relic from the battleship USS Arizona (BB 39) in remembrance and commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The relic originates from a section of the superstructure of the Arizona that was removed from the ship when the Arizona Memorial was constructed. The Naval History and Heritage Command authorized the removal of sections of the relics for display and legacy enhancing purposes in 1994.
