Sailor Participate in Fire Fighting Drills
210811-N-SG189-1157 NORFOLK, Va. (Aug 11, 2021) Chief Damage Controlman Daniel began instructor duty at Farrier Firefighting School in 2019. "I love teaching something to Sailors that's vital to the Navy. When we're at sea, we're all we have." The school hosts week-long firefighting and damage control training courses for service members and foreign personnel, seeing as many as 300 to 500 students per week. It is dedicated to and named after Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) Gerald W. Farrier, who was one of the first Sailors to die aboard USS Forrestal (CV-59).
