WASHINGTON NAVY YARD (Oct. 13, 2021) Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) Director Samuel J. Cox, U.S. Navy rear admiral (retired), presents a sword to Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro at the National Museum of the U.S. Navy (NMUSN) during an event celebrating the Navys 246th birthday. During the ceremony, Del Toro thanked the Navy Museum Development Foundation for its kind offer to lead a national campaign to raise funds for the future NMUSN. The intended location for the new NMUSN is outside the Washington Navy Yards security perimeter, which will give the public unrestricted access to U.S. Navy history and heritage.
