BAY OF BENGAL (Oct. 12, 2021) The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Izumo-class helicopter destroyer JS Kaga (DDH 184), the JMSDF Murasame-class destroyer JS Murasame (DD 101) and the Royal Australian Navy Anzac-class frigate HMAS Ballarat (FFH 155) transit the Bay of Bengal as part of MALABAR 2021, Oct. 12, 2021. MALABAR 2021 is a maritime exercise designed to improve integration, address common maritime security priorities and concerns, enhance interoperability and communication, and strengthen enduring relationships between the Royal Australian Navy, the Indian navy, the JMSDF, and U.S. maritime forces.
