VIRGINIA BEACH (Sept. 28, 2021) - Rear Adm. Joseph DiGuardo, commander of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) and NECC Pacific, poses for a photo with Lt. Breandan Murtha, assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 12, after awarding him with the Rear Admiral Draper L. Kauffman Leadership award in a ceremony held at EOD Group 2 aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story. The award is named after Rear Adm. Draper L. Kauffman, who established the first U.S. bomb disposal school in 1941 and is considered "The Father of Navy EOD."
