STRAIT OF HORMUZ (Aug. 29, 2021) A CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter, attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 162 (Reinforced), flies over patrol coastal ship USS Squall (PC 7) and amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), not pictured, while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Iwo Jima is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean Sea and the Pacific Ocean through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
