NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (Sept. 11, 2021) Seaman Franly Romero, assigned to the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25), salutes carnations dedicated to the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 during a remembrance ceremony of the ship’s namesake on the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Somerset is named for Somerset County, Pennsylvania in honor of the sacrifice by the 40 passengers and crew of the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93.
