OKINAWA, Japan (Aug. 9, 2021) U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Jacob Hanson, Headquarters Company Gunnery Sergeant with Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3d Marine Logistics Group, donates blood during a COVID antibody research study conducted by U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit-2 on Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan, Aug. 9, 2021. The study was conducted amongst active duty Navy and Marine Corps personnel to investigate the percentage of Marines and Sailors previously infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The purpose of the study is to understand how widespread COVID-19 infections are throughout the United States and Indo-Pacific Command. 3d MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward deployed combat unit that serves as III MEF’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
