ATLANTIC OCEAN (August 4, 2021) U.S. Navy Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Christian James, assigned to the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24), trains Midshipmen 2nd Class Mariah Vogler and Faith Southwick, students at the United States Naval Academy, on how to properly inspect flight deck gear in Arlington’s hangar bay while Arlington participates in Large Scale Exercise (LSE) 2021. LSE 2021 demonstrates the Navy’s ability to employ precise, lethal, and overwhelming force globally across three naval component commands, five numbered fleets, and 17 time zones while merging live and synthetic training capabilities that help create a dynamic training environment. LSE 2021 will connect high-fidelity training and real-world operations to build knowledge and skills needed in today’s complex, multi-domain, and contested environment.
