Brown, U.S. Navy Chief of Information, gives remarks on the importance of naval education and history during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Future Campus Vision, an exhibit showcasing the new National Museum of the United States Navy (NMUSN) at the current NMUSN. The U.S. Navy has set tentative plans to open the new NMUSN campus in October 2025, correlating with the Navy's 250th birthday. The NMUSN campus will act as an enduring memorial to honor the service of American Sailors, inspire selfless service and enhance public understanding of the Navys history and heritage. Naval History and Heritage Command is responsible for managing, researching, preserving, and interpreting the U.S. Navy's collection of sunken military craft, which includes more than 2,500 shipwrecks and 14,000 aircraft wrecks dispersed globally.
