SAN DIEGO (July 13, 2021) Capt. Gordon Wisbach, Naval Medical Center San Diego's (NMCSD) Bio-skills Training and Simulation Center surgical director, left, Cmdr. Jonas Carmichael, center, and Rear Adm. Bruce Gillingham, Surgeon General of the Navy and Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), confer in Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) San Diego's Virtual Medical Operations Center (VMOC). Gillingham visited NMRTC San Diego to meet with Sailors and staff, and toured a mental health clinic, advanced dental laboratory and USNS Mercy. NMRTC San Diego's mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research. NMRTC San Diego employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
