KANSAS CITY, Mo. (June 28, 2021) Operations Specialist 2nd Class Deja Marable, left, and Chief Information Systems Technician Calvin Elmore, both assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), clean the landscape of Veterans Community Project in Kansas City, Missouri. VCP is a nonprofit organization serving homeless and at-risk veterans with tiny homes, wrap-around support services and emergency assistance. The event was part of Kansas City Navy Week, the first in-person Navy Week since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, brings Sailors from different Navy units across the U.S. to conduct focused outreach with members of the community. Navy Weeks consist of a series of events coordinated by the Navy Office of Community Outreach designed to give Americans an opportunity to learn about the Navy, its people and its importance to national security and prosperity.
