VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (June 23, 2021) Mike Spalding, Chief Pilot at the Military Aviation Museum, speaks with naval aviators assigned to the “Jolly Rogers” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 103 onboard Naval Air Station Oceana. The formation flight included an F/A-18F, from VFA 103, and an FG-1D Corsair, from the Military Aviation Museum, and intended to increase the squadrons awareness of its history, unit cohesion, and morale. The FG-1D Corsair was once assigned to the “Jolly Rogers” of Fighter Squadron (VF) 17 in 1943 who shares the same call sign as VFA 103.
