INDIAN OCEAN (Dec. 19, 2021) A U.S. Marine with Light Armored Reconnaissance Detachment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fires an M-4 carbine aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), in the Indian Ocean, Dec. 19, 2020. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 15th MEU provide numbered fleet and combatant commanders with a responsive, flexible and forward-deployed asset capable of maritime power projection, contingency operations and crisis response.
