PHILIPPINE SEA (May 29, 2021) Naval Air Crewmen (Helicopter) 2nd Class Peter Hoffman, from Maine, and Naval Air Crewmen (Helicopter) 2nd Class Derek Wheaton from Jacksonville, Florida, attached to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 12 sit passenger in an MH-60S Sea Hawk as the guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67) steams with the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Hyuga-class helicopter destroyer JS Ise (DDH 182). Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, as well as the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
