CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (May 24, 2021) Capt. Carl Goforth, a researcher with the COVID-19 Health Action Response for Marines (CHARM) study, briefs a group of participants at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton's 13 Area clinic, May 25, 2021. Goforth and a research team from Naval Medical Research Center, in Silver Spring, Md., were at the clinic to follow up with Marines participating study, which started last year at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island during the height of the pandemic. Researchers aim to understand the long-term health impact of COVID-19 infection by following participants over time. The stop at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton was just one among many as scientists from NMRC travel around the country to follow up with original study volunteers who were recruits when they first volunteered.
