SAN DIEGO (May 23, 2021) Chief Aviation Electronics Technician Jonathan Mance, assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25), greets his family on the pier as the ship returns from a seventh-month deployment, May 23, 2021. Somerset, part of the Makin Island ARG, returned to Naval Base San Diego after a seven month deployment to U.S. 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th Fleets where they served as a crisis-response force for combatant commanders in the Africa, Central and Indo-Pacific Commands.
