PACIFIC OCEAN (May 11, 2021) A rigid-hull inflatable boat carrying U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment 104 personnel returns to the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Charleston (LCS 18). Charleston is deployed in support of the Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI), a Secretary of Defense initiative leveraging Department of Defense assets transiting the region to increase the Coast Guard's maritime domain awareness, ultimately supporting its maritime law enforcement operation in Oceania.
