Cmdr. Paul Castillo, the ordnance handling officer of the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), on the Advanced Weapons Elevators in the aft weapons handling transfer area, April 18, 2021. During the visit, Geurts and Jenkins met with Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12 commander and other warfare commanders to receive an in-depth look at underway operations and significant milestones made during the ship's last independent steaming event (ISE) as part of post-delivery test and trials. During the ship's final ISE, it will complete combat systems ship qualification trials, integrated CSG operations and cyclic flight operations.
