GULF OF ADEN (April 7, 2021) The guided-missile destroyer USS Mitscher (DDG 57) transits the Gulf of Aden inbound to a sustainment and logistics port visit in Djibouti. Mitscher is part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group and deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean Sea and Pacific Ocean through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
